Innovation: Africa captures the energy from the sun to pump clean water from the aquifer.
450 million people in Africa do not have access to clean water.
With our local teams and contractors, we have built over 900+ solar water pumping systems across Africa.
It costs $65,000 to bring clean water to an entire village of up to 10,000 people.

Step One
Drill
We drill a well up to 250 meters (820 ft) in the ground to reach the aquifer.
ia Water
Step Two
Build
We build the water tower up to 10 meters (32 ft) tall.
ia Water
Step Three
Install Solar
Panels and a
Solar Pump
We install solar panels on top of the water tower to capture the energy from the sun in order to power a pump.
ia Water
Step Four Raise the Water Tank
We raise a 10,000 liter water tank to the top of the structure where groundwater is pumped and housed for distribution.

Step Five
Dig Trenches
For Piping
We dig trenches in a 4-8km radius around the village and install the pipes to distribute water to the taps. Community members are engaged in the construction alongside our contractors.
ia Water
Step Six Taps
With input from the community members, we construct 10-15 water stations throughout the village.

Step Seven
Monitoring
Our UN-awarded remote monitoring system is installed at each project, enabling our teams and donors to track the energy produced and water flow output, in real time. Alerts are triggered should a malfunction occur.

Step Eight
Clean Water
Flows
Community members turn on the taps and the village receives clean, safe drinking water for the first time! Up to 30,000 litres of clean water flows throughout the village, at anytime.
Water Gallery
Since 2008, Innovation: Africa has transformed over 4 million people’s lives with the benefits of Israeli technologies providing clean water to rural African villages for the first time. We believe in the power of solar and water to truly impact future generations. Water is essential for human survival and generates economic development wherever it flows.
