Mofu Village is situated along the South African border and lies at the edge of the Shiselweni and Manzini regions with 716 community members. The community had never had any form of water intervention and relied solely on two contaminated wells for all their water needs, one of which was seasonal and dried up in the summer months. Now, since the installation of the solar water pumping system, the lives of 716 people have be transformed as they have access to clean water, thanks to The Kirsh Foundation. The system taps into an underground aquifer and the solar powered pump brings the water to a 10 meter tower. From the tower, the water is distributed across the community to several taps reaching all sections of the village.

Zwelihlelo Village is home to 1,136 people who used to rely on a contaminated river shared with animals for all their water needs. Thanks to The Kirsh Foundation, families no longer need to spend hours of their day collecting unsafe water, thanks to the solar powered water pumping system that was established. The entire community now has access to taps which flow with fresh and clean water from the underground aquifer. Instead of collecting heavy jerrycans filled with contaminated water, children now have more time to play and study.

The 1,266 members of Mankelu Village in eSwatini struggled without access to clean water before a solar water pumping system was generously donated to the community in December 2019 by The Kirsh Foundation. This project is one of the biggest Innovation: Africa has carried out in eSwatini. It includes 18.5km of piping and a 10m tower connected to an underground aquifer which provides enough water for two communities. One woman told us of her 45 minute walk to the river stream shared with animals where she used to drink from. She struggled to bring back enough water for her family to drink and to support her crops. Now, thanks to the project, she is able to dedicate the time she has gotten to tending to her family.

Before Innovation: Africa installed a solar water pumping system at Phosela, 977 people were dependent on rain water collection and existing springs that were shared with animals. Innovation: Africa drilled deep into the aquifer to bring clean water from beneath the surface to the community in need. Towers of 3 meters and 10 meters were constructed and community taps were built throughout the village. Now that water is flowing, thanks to The Kirsh Foundation, life in Phosela has been transformed.

Tsandzamalayini Village is home to 1,003 people who used to struggle without access to clean water. Now, since the installation of the solar water pumping system, all thanks to The Kirsh Foundation, the community has 18.5 km of piping connected to a 10 meter tower. Since project installation, the community has seen a few small businesses arise. One young woman of the community was able to afford higher education for herself with her popular ice block business she started thanks to the project. She told us she is proud to sell her ice blocks knowing that they are made with 100% clean water.
